dear video diary,
some people have a video of when they were actually born. thank goodness i don't. instead, i have a silent home film of my parents-smiling- getting out of a car and sitting me on the table in a car seat in the kitchen. then i have a video tape of me walking- as an adult- into an office- well a meeting room actually- holding flowers and crying- and being greeted by a woman who was laughing at me. my beginning- chronicled on film- twice. my parents filmed the first- prolly five years of my development- everything i did- they got it on camera. even tho it didn't capture sound- my mom took care of that- she had a portable tape recorder close by. we sang songs into that thing constantly- and i demanded commercials- so we always had commercial breaks- my mom always got a kick out of those. she allowed room for creativity at all times. so walking in to see my birth mother all those years later- to then find HER laughing- i dunno was kindof weird. but she turned out to be weird. or maybe i'm weird. fuck i dunno. maybe i shoulda just did a commercial break- or tried a different channel.
